Kalaalayam Bananas: Humble Yet Mighty

Today, I decided to skip cooking and opted for some fruit instead. I found a few bananas, perfectly ripe and ready to eat. Thank you, dear Maa Annapoorneswari (Mother Nature).

Our banana plot has often been the subject of criticism from neighboring farmers and visitors to our farm. They noted the lack of proper maintenance, irregular watering, and care. Yet, despite this neglect, not a single tree has fallen, even in the strongest winds over the past year.

I now understand that their strength comes from the deep roots they’ve developed while searching for water, focusing their energy inward rather than outward. They might look modest, but they are resilient.

The taste of each variety of banana from our farm is incomparable to what we find in the market, even in organic stores. Those who have tasted them can attest to their unique, sticky, and sugary quality—a testament to the potent Prana Shakthi (Life Force) within them.

While I won’t neglect these bananas in the future, this experience has taught me a valuable lesson. It has given me the confidence to propagate these banana roots in other plots, knowing they can withstand harsh weather and minimal water.
