Lesson from Chicken Ladies

Last week, our hen, White Lady, welcomed two colorful chicks into the world and immediately began nurturing them with great enthusiasm.

In contrast, Red Lady another hen, who had previously destroyed her own eggs, has been unable to have chicks of her own. I was shocked to witness her jealousy towards White Lady’s new arrivals; she killed one of the chicks yesterday. This incident made me realize that even in simple domestic animals, we can witness acts of violence and jealousy.

It’s a sobering reminder that such destructive behavior is not limited to animals. When the same creatures are reborn as humans, these tendencies persist. Just as some politicians harbor jealousy towards other nations, leading to senseless wars and innocent lives lost, the cycle of conflict continues.
